Network Engineer (Linux)

The IT Network Engineer is a critical production engineering role responsible for maintaining, automating, and optimizing the network infrastructure in a fast-paced, high-performance trading environment. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise across various networking and automation technologies, demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks independently, and thrive under pressure in a dynamic setting.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities  including but not limited to: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the network stack, including design, implementation, and support.
  • Linux system administration and debugging.
  • Designing and implementing network architectures and systems.
  • Developing and maintaining network automation tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AWS Networking and infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with IT, Production Support, and Development teams to enhance system efficiency.
  • Performing network maintenance with a focus on Cisco IOS, NX-OS, IOS-XR, and IOS-XE.
  • Researching, architecting, engineering, and supporting network infrastructure solutions.
  • Automating the network layer, including integration with REST APIs.
  • Liaising with global end users, IT teams in EU, APAC, and the US, as well as third-party vendors and service providers.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of technology architecture and infrastructure, with a focus on networking and automation.
  • Strong experience in network automation using REST API.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as Ruby, Bash, Python, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Jinja2, and Django.
  • CCNP/CCIE-level networking knowledge, including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, RSTP, VXLAN, MPLS, VRF, MPBGP, DMVPN, and IPSEC.
  • Expertise in multicast environments, including IGMP and PIM Sparse/Dense modes.
  • Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls and F5 Load Balancers.
  • Prior experience in the financial industry or other low-latency environments is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Work Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Weekend maintenance shifts: Friday 18:00 - Saturday 12:00 EST/EDT.
  • On-call availability 24x7 on a rotational basis.
